The Lord Jesus did not reject him, push him away or disqualify him. He came to Jesus with a question, “Good teacher, what can I do to inherit eternal life?” He came to ask that question because he wasn’t sure about his place in the eternity. He had doubts about the salvation of his soul and that’s something that you and I should not have. He knew from the depth of his soul that something was still missing though he kept all the commandments. The Lord was so kind to show him what to do conquer eternal life.

Then Jesus, looking upon him, loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me.”
He was saddened by that word, and he went away grieving. For he had many possessions. Mark 10:21-22 MEV.

The Lord Jesus hit the nail on the head. This young rich man placed his possession above God. Yes, he loved his money! He was unwilling to put the Lord above his possession and hence he walked away. He was lacking the willingness to put Christ first above all in his life and and take up the cross and follow Him. This is what God requires of all of us. Our God is not for second place or third, He must be placed first.

Sometimes it is only one thing that keeps a person from the salvation of his soul. There was only one thing in the life of the Rich Young Ruler that kept him disconnected from God and hence the void and frustration within him. What could be the one thing that kept you empty and unfulfilled for so long. Find out from God and use the 21 days fast for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to get rid of it or to set your priorities right. Perhaps, you are not baptised with the Holy Spirit as yet because you lack only one thing, what is it? Could it be the love of money, a grudge, envy, pride, etc? May God reveal it to you.

Bp FrankGod bless you.
