Ever since I was young, my mother and my siblings experienced poverty at first hand. My mother was a single parent so it was difficult for her to provide for her 8 children. Among all my siblings, I was the only one who made it to tertiary. Therefore I became the breadwinner of my whole family.
For more than 20 years I strived to take my family out of poverty, but whatever I did, I was failing. I became depressed because I was earning a small salary so I was struggling to provide for either my mother or my child.
The worst moment was when both my child and mother got sick at the same time. This drove me to desperation so I started seeking help from false prophets and so called traditional doctors but nothing was happening. This also lead me to start drinking alcohol.
At one point I was stuck in my life. I rented a room in the backyard of someone because I couldn’t afford a standard house. As if that was not enough, the curse of death befell my family and took four of my siblings.
I received a pamphlet of the church and that day I decided to go there for counseling and prayer. Since then I never looked back in Faith. I learnt how to fight for my life and to overcome. I was also introduced to different movements of faith which I participated in. I also committed myself to the daily chains of prayer.
Today my life is different; I overcame all the desperation and depression. My financial life transformed, I was able to build my mother a house and a bachelor pad.
Now I have a plot in Gaborone North worth hundreds of thousands. I was able to build myself a house in Matebeleng and I bought myself a brand new car. My child and my mother are healed. Today my family is united and happy. I have peace and I serve God. I thank God for everything.
